Color makes me Happy........

There is nothing like a cool, crisp Fall Day, I get to light up my hot torch and play with rainbows. I mean, who am I to complain about that?
But who am I kidding, there's always room to complain! Lol....
But back to color....
If you think about it, color dominates our lives. Red can make you feel tense, whereas blue can calm your mood down. Its true.

Color is a HUGE part of every day life.
Its how we know when to STOP at the RED light, GO at GREEN
all the way down to the color of our food, right?
I mean, its deeper than people really think about.
Would you eat a Blue watermelon? Orange corn? Purple apples?

I guess you would if that's how the color was presented to you in the 1st place....but color rides deep into your soul.
Some relate to color as your "Chakra.."
(i.e. green = the heart, yellow is the solar plexus or the organs below the rib cage (endocrine, stomach, liver spleen...) and so on. Even red is determined to increase your appetite and used in some restaurants, etc.)

Oh gawd, I didn't mean to make this soo complex, lol, but did you learn something new? Color therapy dates back to the Ancient Egyptians...
there was a spiritual reason that the grass was green and the sky was blue.
Then today's big wigs come in and talk about how refraction and subtraction and whateveraction...how the eye interprets light, etc.

I mean, seriously. Couldn't we have just left the whole theory alone and speculate as to why tomatoes turn red when their ready to eat, or why every things soo green in the summer? Glorious colors erupt in the Autumn....because Mother Nature says so? That's good enough for me.
I dont need to know the chemical theory behind lycopene for my red tomatoes. Umm, when they are bursting red and full of flavor, they are simply ready to eat right? Pass the salt please.
Speaking of red ripe tomatoes...I tried one of those TopsyTurvy upside down tomater plants this summer. And I have a pretty green thumb.
Umm, nope. Didn't work. I didn't get ONE tomato off that plant, I was soo ticked off. I even contemplated stealing one of my neighbors vine tomatoes, but figured that would screw up my Chakra somewhere and Lord have mercy, I don't wanna do that.
And who on earth made up the word GREEN THUMB?

My thumb is not really green, but when I grow great plants, I'm considered to have a green thumb? See?? Now that's one of those things, that Chemists can NOT decipher or take apart and find some chemical reason, my green thumb was not working this summer and my tomatoes never turned red.
See? See how color is such a big part of your life?
Color is a HUGE part of my life. Not only the day to day stuff, but
I get to PLAY with every color of the rainbow. I get to melt color after color of glass and make my OWN rainbows.
Chakra THAT!

Oooooo did someone say MURRINI??

Oooo, yes they did!
Ive been a busy bee this week, outside of taking care of a sick child....
And of course I ended up catching it...blah humbug!
It's amazing how a sinus infection and cold can bog the system completely down. It's like all the senses abort and your left with this infected crap that tastes like....well....I spose I should stop there, huh?
My 12y.o. has missed 6 days of school with a high fever and the sinus infection from hell. Poor kid. School sends her home, because of a 102 fever, then they call and complain that she's missing school.
You've GOT to be joking me? Nope, no joke here.....
In the interim, I kept busy mak'n handpulled murrini. Its truly beautiful, if I can say so myself. And totally FUN to make.
You'll see them on Etsy yet tonite~!

Reactive Colors

www.BeedzNest.etsy.com

These soo remind me of a mini Hurricane, don't they you?
Such an array of over reactive colors, sorta like the weather lately.
As much as the hurricanes scare the bejeeby's out of me, I still want
to move to Florida, lol....Who wouldn't want to live in The Mickey Mouse State anyway?

I've been beading every chance I get, unless the weather is of melting temperature. Be sure to jump over to Etsy and buy some beads.
Support your starving artists! Wink.

I'm Melting....

I think I'm melting....
It's soo hot here, and not
just hot, its really
H - O - T
A natural reaction to the humidity is sweating. Right?

It's really hard to torch over a 1700 degree flame, and hold your glass & mandrel with sweaty palms.

Gross.

Therefore, I have 1 lone bead to show you. Notice its in the blue color family, lol....I must be thinking of cooler colors eh?

I will try to fire up again later tonite, after the sun sets, or the anticipated storm rolls in.....
Stay tuned in Tokyo.....I'll throw this bead on Etsy later too....

Stay cool.....Try not to melt. Melting is messy business.

Neckwires

Heres the promised heart on a navy blue neckwire. I love these neckwires, they come in all colors and are pretty cheap. If interested go to http://www.artbeads.com/ and you'll find them there. Plus they offer free shipping with no minimum, so thats a plus (+)!
What's cheap? I think they are only like 4-5 bucks....I string them on neckwire, because of the way the hole goes vertically thru the bead. If you need help finding the neckwires,
email me, and I'll help.
Other than that....not much new news.....I plan to torch later, so I'm sure I'll have pics to show you sometime tomorrow.... *grin*
Oh wait. I forgot to shamelessly promote myself.
Don't forget to buy a heart or a rainbow bead. *insert cheesy grin here*
I'm always an email away....or comment me....I'd love to hear from you!

EDITING this post....I thought ArtBeads had these neckwires, but its in fact Fire Mountain Gems. Here is a link to the neckwires I like to use for beads:
http://www.firemountaingems.com/details.asp?PN=H207512JW

They are just under $5 dollars, and come in a variety of colors!
Thanks to Dave for asking...... Smiles, Lori

Somewhere Over the Rainbow....

I know alot of you have been waiting on my rainbow series, and well....Finally....here it is! These beads came out prettier than originally thought in my head. Bonus!
I'm not even sure which one I like the best. I like them all. Can I have them all? Please, Please! Oh wait, I made them. Nevermind.
Talk about bursting with color.....Im just pleased as puddin'.

I plan to string that turquoise heart on a navy colored neckwire, so
I will snap a pic later on to show you what that looks like, around your neck. Soo cool.

The girls have asked me to make them hearts to coordinate with their "back to school" outfits....so I need to torch....and go play with color.
Nothing like having a job where you get to play with rainbows.
Too bad, I never find a pot of gold or a lil' leprechaun at the end...
Could be a good thing, I hear those leprechaun's are shady little people.
Im offffffffff............
